Zest Stays 1054 runs an air-conditioned male dormitory roughly 100 metres from the Lower Oshiwara Metro entrance — about a two-minute walk on flat ground. Beds are ₹5,999 a month for an upper bunk and ₹7,000 for a lower bunk.

First, make sure you mean the right station

This causes more confusion than anything else in the area, so it is worth settling before you book.

• Lower Oshiwara Metro is on Line 2A, the yellow line running between Dahisar and DN Nagar. This is the one outside our door.
• Andheri Metro is on Line 1, the blue line running Versova to Ghatkopar. It is a different station about 2 km away.
• Oshiwara railway station is a third thing again — a suburban rail halt on the Western Line, not a metro station.

If a listing says "near Oshiwara metro" without specifying, ask which line. The difference can be twenty minutes of your morning.

Where Line 2A takes you

From Lower Oshiwara you travel north to Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar, or south to DN Nagar without changing trains. Andheri Railway Station, for Western and Harbour Line connections, is about 2 km away or roughly seven minutes by auto.

What living in a dormitory is actually like

Worth being honest about. A dormitory is the cheapest way to live within walking distance of a metro station in this part of Mumbai, and the trade-off is that you share sleeping space with other people. It works well if you are out most of the day, keep reasonable hours, and mainly need somewhere clean and secure to sleep and store your things.

It works less well if you take calls late at night, keep an irregular schedule, or need quiet to study in the evenings. If any of that describes you, a private partition at ₹12,000 is worth the difference.

Everyone here is police-verified, the building is male-only, and there is CCTV in the common areas — which is most of what makes a shared room workable.
